Google says :
Silica is an important trace mineral that provides strength and flexibility to the connective tissues of your body — cartilage, tendons, skin, bone, teeth, hair, and blood vessels. Silica is essential in the formation of collagen, the most abundant protein found in your body.
Silica is the second most common element in the earth’s crust, making up 59%. It is found in our body, most rocks, sand, clays, food (brown rice, wholegrain, cucumbers), plants, it is basically everywhere.
Seems important enough to know, yet most people have never heard of it.
It is the third most abundant trace mineral in the body after iron and zinc. It also helps keep minerals in balance, like calcium and magnesium, which in turn help keep our hormones in balance. We will get to hormones later later….
Its impact on skins regeneration is tremendous as it aids in the the skins natural ability to retain water, keeping the skin hydrated, fresh and youthful.
Silica is imperative for rebuilding collagen as it sits in collagen acting as a glue. This provides strength, flexibility and resilience to connective tissues. Just thinking about that for a second or minute. Who doesn’t want stronger bones, teeth and nails, to feel lubricated in joints, to have a flexible body and of course have tighter skin and healthier hair? Do you need silica in your life?
Fun fact, our body produces less silica as we gracefully age! Yup, that’s why we start seeing fine lines, loss of hair…(which many women don’t talk about to ANYONE! Btw, we need to start having these uncomfortable conversation until they are recognized as being very normal in everyones lives) and brittle nails, just to name a few.
I started noticing a difference in the skin around my eye when I was 36 and it freaked me out! Why, you ask…
Well, of course everyone else ages; I/we don’t age!! At least that was my sub sub-conscious logic that I didn’t know existed until I saw the wrinkle of reality on my face.
